The Bridgette Mayer Gallery is pleased to present a new collection of oil on panel paintings by artist Clark Gibson. The exhibition titled “Time Frame” will feature approximately twelve new oil on panel works. Sizes range from 8” x 10” & 18” x 24” up to 24” x 36”.
About the new work: “In this series of paintings, Gibson has incorporated a new painting technique that offers a variation in the development of perspective. The work depicts layers of pipes, all painstakingly painted so that three dimensionality and shadow are created, and even changes, by the way the brushstroke catches the light. Therefore, light becomes an interactive aspect in viewing the painting.
Gibson continues to challenge himself and the viewer with a dramatically broad pallet. Gibson seeks to pinpoint a sublime space between cacophony and harmony through the use of color. Although Gibson creates work that is abstract and even graphic in quality, he is conscious that experiencing these combinations of color is, for himself and the viewer, often an evocative or emotional experience.
Gibson is committed to the meticulous creation of painting. As in past series, this work is created through a series of drafting, taping, layered painting, and now incorporates a brushstroke unique to the work.”
