Art & Life with Kaoru Mansour
September 26, 2019
Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaoru Mansour.
Kaoru, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up in a small village in Japan. I went to a medical lab training college because I had a good math grade, but I enjoyed drawing cells through a microscope the most. I dropped out of college and started working at a graphic office in Kobe Japan. During that time I was singing with a band as a hobby. The band won a music competition and I got a record deal after my contract with the record company was over. I moved to LA. I took night classes at the Otis College of Art and Design, and I was working at an office during the day. Then when my son was born, I became a freelance artist.
It has been 25 years. I feel that I am very lucky that I found something that I never get tired of doing 24 hours a day.
Please tell us about your art.
I always hope that my artwork shows a part of who I am. If the final piece says more than my words can describe, then I am very happy.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Originality, the amount of hours an artist is willing to invest in her/his own art is very essential for me.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
