Point & Counterpoint, the North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowship Exhibition, features the work of 18 vibrant artists working in diverse mediums from visual arts to choreography. The exhibition runs through January 17, 2016 at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem. The artists participating in the show include 10 visual artists, four craft artists, two film/video artists, and two choreographers — all were recipients of the 2014-15 Artist Fellowship awards.

Damian Stamer is a North Carolina native whose art is influenced by his Southern roots and rural landscapes. Though he’s painting the same subject matter, Stamer says he’s finding a different energy and urgency to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Crystal Bridges has acquired 31 artworks by 28 artists featured in State of the Art 2020 that will be added to the museum’s permanent collection.

Bridgette Mayer Gallery is thrilled to announce that in its twenty-first year as a leader in the Philadelphia arts community, it will re-open its doors to the public on June 1, 2021. The gallery will be returning to its home on the 1st floor of 709 Walnut Street in Washington Square, where it existed as a public gallery from 2001 to 2016, before moving to the penthouse level of the building and becoming a private, appointment-only space. Founder and Owner Bridgette Mayer has made the exciting decision to re-open the gallery as a way to foster art and joy in Philadelphia in response to the difficulties facing the city due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The North Carolina Museum of Art has recently acquired Damian Stamer's 2019 painting Horry County 16 for its permanent collection.
Horry County 16 is a further exploration of abandoned barns in the Carolinas, which evoke the passage of time and memory and are depicted frequently in Damian's work. The barns in this series represent a sort of psychological space, where mind and matter coalesce. This piece is illustrative of a new, more colorful direction that Damian has taken in his recent work.

The Gibbes Museum of Art welcomes new exhibits for 2023

This year’s lineup at the Gibbes Museum of Art will cover an array of topics and encourage visitors to engage with new art forms and genres.
“We are excited for another year of engaging exhibitions and talented artists for our guests to experience in 2023,” said Angela Mack, executive director of the museum.
The lineup of 2023 exhibitions will serve to advance the museum’s four themes of health and wellness, social justice, innovation and conservation and the environment, Mack said in a statement.

Located in Charleston, South Carolina, the Gibbes collection spans four centuries of American Art and provides a dynamic introduction to the visual culture of the American South from the colonial era to the present. South Lowell 159 was first shown at the Gibbes during Stamer's recent solo show, Ruminations, which ran from March to October, 2023.
